Vampire Diaries: TV Guide Photo Shoot Video

While shooting the stars of The Vampire Diaries for a cover story, TV Guide also video taped a behind the scenes look at the session. The heat behind this series continues to build up, with the audience genuinely anticipating its return in January.

The Vampire Diaries: Bloodlines Promo

New episodes of The Vampire Diaries return to the CW beginning on January 21, 2010, and the network has begun airing promos for episode 11, “Bloodlines.”

Plus there’s a promo heralding that “a new chapter begins” when the show returns, which looks intriguing as hell.

“True Blood” Casting Notes

Looks like Tara is going to find love of the undead kind in the form of vampire Franklin Mott, described in the casting breakdown as “a tall, dark and handsome vampire who seems to have an ‘immediate and torrid’ connection to Tara. According to EW’s Michael Ausiello, the “heavily recurring” part will be played by James Frain, from The Tudors.

Additionally, Tony-nominated actress J. Smith-Cameron will be playing the recurring role of Melinda, Sam Merlotte’s mother; and Prison Break’s Marshall Allman is playing Sam’s brother.

Executive producer Julie Plec let it be known that Being Erica actor Dillon Casey will be appearing on the show when it returns in January with new episodes. He’ll be playing Noah, who apparently develops an unhealthy obsessions with Elena.

TUESDAY DECEMBER 8, 2009
The bite was put on the 2nd Annual Golden Globes Party Saluting Young Hollywood in Los Angeles. Appearing at the event from The Vampire Diaries was Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Katerina Graham, Kayla Ewell and Candice Accola.

Dark Shadows: Jonathan Frid Audio Interview, Part 1

Back in the 1980s, SciFi TV Zone Editor Edward Gross was researching a book on the 60s horror soap opera, Dark Shadows. At the time he had the opportunity to interview a number of people involved with the show, both in front of and behind the camera, but the highlight was the opportunity to meet and interview Jonathan Frid. The actor, who portrayed vampire Barnabas Collins on the show, had been a childhood hero and it was felt to be the opportunity of a lifetime.

What follows is the first part of that meeting between actor and fledgling journalist. Two things to bear in mind: the sound source is a little low, but considering it was recorded nearly 25 years ago on a cassette tape, it’s not bad. Second, this was one of Gross’ earliest interviews, so there is definitely nervousness on his part. Look for Part two of this interview on Monday, December 7th.

“Forever Knight”: Exclusive Audio Interview with Geraint Wyn Davies

This year, Chiller counts down to Thanksgiving with back-to-back evening marathons of the classic vampire series Forever Knight, featuring star Geraint Wyn Davies’ favorite episodes. Davies will host the marathon in all-new, ever-before-seen interstitials, offering behind-the-scenes scoop on the series. It all begins Tuesday, November 24 at 8PM and continues the following night on the Chiller network.
SciFi TV Zone caught up with Davies, who reflected on the series, his character of vampire cop Nick Knight and what he’s up to now.
